Let me just start off saying that I love this game. It's way better than the second Ice Age video game(Ice Age 2: The Meltdown). In the second game the only character you could play as was Scrat(the squriel)! You could only maybe play as one or two of the main characters. But with Ice Age Dawn Of The Dinosaurs, you can play as mostly all of the characters. Sid, Manny, Diego, Scrat, Scracte and Buck. I was really happy to play as all of them.
Everyone knows that the Ps3, Xbox 360 and PC versions of games have the best graphics there are in video games today. I bought this game for my Ps2 and to my amazement, the graphics were pretty good! They almost looked like the graphics for the better consoles! They just looked a little downgraded but still great nonetheless.
The Levels in the game require some skill and are sometimes very hard. Once you get the hang of it you'll be able to finish the game very quickly. In some of the levels when you play as Buck, you'll have to fight off a Dinosaur that doesn't want you to go any further. It's almost like a Boss fight just really really REALLY easy. At times you'll have to destoy a gigantic bee hive while huge bees are flying twords you trying to sting you. You may also have to water leaves that are dried so that you can go all the way a huge tree and slide down some vines.
When you play as Scrat you also get to play as Scrate. The levels usually start with Scrate stealing the acorn from Scrat. The levels are 2D sidescrolers. Scrat moves pretty fast so if you're staring the game for the first time, I'd suggest you go pretty slow becuase there some enemies that come out of nowhere! At some point in the level you'll meet up with Scrate and have to made a way for you get up to the next part of the level. After you do that, you'll get to play as Srcate until the end of the level when you meet up with Scrat. Pretty simple right? Not really...
When you play as Sid you mostly have to get out of a spooky cave or roll around on an egg on a dangerous mountain while not falling over the edge which will end up killing you. How great of a parent is he?! Other times you'll be chased but a huge Dinosaurs. The levels come at you so you'll be running twords the screen with the Dinosaur chasing you. Since you're running twords the screen, you can't see anything that's in front of you. Sometimes holes will appear and you may fall. Other times big boiling hot lava pits will come while valcanos are shooting fire rocks at you. Just another day in the life...
This game is really fun! It brings on a few funny moments with great level design and ideas. Great family game. I recomend you buy/rent this game.
